As most of you already know, on January 1, 2024, a magnitude 7.5 earthquake hit the coast of Ishikawa Prefecture in central Honshū, the main island of Japan. Many sake breweries in the area sustained extensive damages with some even collapsing. Many are no longer able to brew sake for this season and possibility in the near future.  Fortunately, our partner breweries, Tengumai (Shata Shuzo) and Fukumitsuya, were only mildly affected and brewing continues.  However, many of the breweries’ family and friends lost their homes. Our hearts and thoughts are with all the victims and the families in the area affected by this devastating earthquake.

Sake brewers are a tight knit group and are at the ready to help each other. Recently, Tengumai (Shata Shuzo) offered to help Kazuma Shuzo in Noto Peninsula by taking 5000L of their moromi (the main fermentation stock) to brew sake on behalf of Kazuma Shuzo. We all hope that they will be able to rebuild and reproduce their sake again.

In support of the sake breweries affected by the earthquake, we have create a mixed pack of 4 sakes from Tengumai and Fukumitsuya.  30% of the sales proceeds with be donated to the Ishikawa Brewery Association which has set up a fund to aid in the recovery of breweries.

We hope you will support the relief efforts by purchasing the mixed pack.
